WHO IS IT FOR?

This workshop is for:

  • sports coaches and personal trainers who already coach the deadlift and want to take it to the next level;
  • strength and conditioning coaches and strength trainers;
  • advanced practitioners who want to understand and optimise their own technique.

Prerequisites: completion of AM Sports Training's Deadlift Workshop Level 1, or proof of an equivalent level [qualification, X years of coaching experience]. If in doubt, a prior conversation with the trainer can confirm your registration.

TAILORED SUPPORT: YOUR EXPECTATIONS AT THE CENTRE

Before the workshop, each participant completes a preparation questionnaire: experience, clients coached, difficulties encountered and personal goals. The trainer uses these answers to adapt the examples, the practical scenarios and the time spent on each topic.

You leave with answers to your own questions, not just standard content.

TRADITIONAL vs COACHING-FOCUSED WORKSHOP?

A traditional workshop teaches you to perform a movement. This workshop teaches you to pass it on.

Traditional workshopCoaching-focused workshop
Focus on your own techniqueFocus on analysing and correcting others
Demonstration then repetitionObservation, diagnosis, cues, feedback
An “ideal” techniqueA technique adapted to each body type
Theory separate from practiceTheory applied straight away on the gym floor

You work alternately as coach and practitioner, with direct feedback from the trainer on how you coach.

WHY DO IT AS A GROUP? COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE

The small-group format (4 to 12 participants) multiplies the profiles you observe: different body types, mobility, strength levels and technical habits. Each participant becomes a case study for the others.

Discussion between coaches brings out practical, field-tested solutions you can use with your own clients the very next day.

LEARNING AREAS

1. Advanced biomechanical analysis

Leverage, body type and starting position: understanding why no two practitioners ever pull the same way.

2. Variations and how to use them

Conventional, sumo, Romanian, trap bar, deficit, block pulls: indications, benefits and limits of each variation [to be validated against Antoine's programme].

3. Diagnosing and correcting errors

Identify common faults (loss of bracing, hips shooting up, bar drifting away, incomplete lockout), find their cause and choose the right cue or corrective exercise.

4. Programming and progression

Fitting the deadlift into a training plan: choice of loads (% of 1RM, RPE), volume, frequency and fatigue management.

5. Safety and prevention

Specific warm-up, managing lumbar load and adapting for at-risk clients or those returning to training.

DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT & FINAL CERTIFICATION

At the start of the workshop: a multiple-choice test and a practical observation establish your starting level, so the trainer can adjust support to each person.

At the end of the workshop: a practical assessment (coaching a participant using the Blueprint sheet) and a final multiple-choice test confirm the skills acquired.

Afterwards: you receive a certificate of achievement from AM Sports Training, an ISO 29993:2017-certified training provider. [Specify whether a certificate of attendance is issued if the assessment is failed.]
